Ko'i Lechi or Kos di Lechi literally translated from Papiamento means : Things of milk. These delicious homemade candies are made from sugar, milk, sweetened condensed milk and flavorings. They can be made simply with powdered sugar and no cooking, or they can be made with whole milk on the stove, this results in a delicious fudge like candy called Ko'i Lechi Kayente, "Things of hot milk", this one is my personal favorite, but it is more difficult to make. I like mine plain, but additional flavoring and coloring are often added to suit everyone's taste. This treat is much more popular in Curacao, where it can be found most anywhere. Here in St. Maarten it's pretty much a treat made at home for special occasions.
